School Event
mental health day

On 10th October, We held a special Mental Health Day Workshop as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the emotional and social well-being of our students.  Students from Nursery to Year 8 took part in this meaningful event, which focused on helping children understand the importance of speaking up when they feel down and caring for others’ emotional well-being.
To make the day even more impactful, we were honoured to welcome Mr.Ismail from the Kidongo Chekundu Mental health Hospital and Mrs. Rose, a professional yoga instructor, who both shared valuable insights with our students. Their sessions encouraged open discussions about emotions, empathy and the taking care of one’s mental health both individually and within the community.

Importance of Emotional education
Emotional education plays a vital role in every stage of childhood development shaping how children think, feel, and connect with those around them.

At British School of Zanzibar we believe children who understand their emotions are better equipped to manage stress, frustration and disappointment. This self-awareness builds confidence and independence, helping them develop strong self- esteem and problem- solving skills.
Emotional education also strengthens a child’s ability to understand and respect others. It fosters empathy and positive communication essential skills for forming healthy friendships and creating a caring school environment.

"Your mind is like a garden. With care, it will bloom beautifully."
